Ron Paul Banned From Debate

Texas Representative Won't Be Invited To Participate in Iowa Despite Victories

By Mark Anderson

As AFP went to press, Iowans for Tax Relief and Iowa Christian Alliance had engaged in a blatant act of censorship by excluding Rep. Ron Paul (R-Tex.) from their presidential candidates forum June 30 in Des Moines. This is ironic—since Paul reads off the same page on the issues that concern the two groups.

The above-listed groups oppose the economic and political integration of North America. So does Paul. They favor much better border security. So does Paul. They oppose judges who legislate, decry the loss of manufacturing jobs and the related plight of the American middle class. Finally they believe unborn babies are persons deserving of constitutional protection. Paul, as AFP gathered while covering the June 5 GOP debate conducted by CNN in New Hampshire, is in agreement with the two groups on those issues as well.

Of the 10 official GOP candidates who debated on national TV in California, South Carolina and New Hampshire, only Paul was not invited to the upcoming Iowa forum, according to Paul's press secretary Jesse Benton. Those in Paul's campaign office are perplexed, wondering why the two groups are excluding the Republican candidate who scored at the top of every online poll—defined by the networks as live, unscientific surveys—taken after the MSNBC, Fox News, and CNN debates.

Republican presidential candidates Kansas Sen. Sam Brownback, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, California Congressman Duncan Hunter, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy Thompson, and Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo were listed as the forum's "confirmed candidates" on the those organizations' web sites as of June 20. Apparently, it's only a matter of time before Sen. John McCain, former Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani respond to their invitations to participate in Iowa.

Benton told AFP on June 20 that there's even more irony involved here, since Ed Failor, an Iowans for Tax Relief officer, is on the board of the National Taxpayers Union, which has rated Paul, who represents the 14th District of Texas, along with Rep. Jeff Flake of Arizona, as the "taxpayers' best friends" over the last seven years. Furthermore, Paul was the keynote speaker for a NTU gathering June 15 in Washington D.C.

A press release from Paul's office, posted at RonPaul2008.com, noted that Paul will not participate in the Iowa forum because he wasn't invited. Paul's Virginia campaign office learned of the forum from numerous Iowa supporters who wondered why Paul was not going to participate but assumed that he had been invited.

"The campaign office had not received an invitation so we called . . . thinking we might have misplaced the invitation or simply overlooked it," the press release noted. On June 19, Campaign Manager Lew Moore called Edward Failor with Iowans for Tax Relief to ask about this matter.

"To our shock, Mr. Failor told us Dr. Paul was not invited; he was not going to be invited; and he would not be allowed to participate. And when asked why, Mr. Failor refused to explain. The call ended."

Moore then called Iowa Christian Alliance President Steve Scheffler, who did not answer. Moore left a message, which wasn't returned. AFP immediately tried to talk with spokesmen for the two groups, to no avail.

AFP left an unreturned message with the tax group, while the other group's line was constantly busy. However, on the same day that Paul's officer learned that Iowans for Tax Relief and the Iowa Christian Alliance had excluded Paul from their forum, ABC News contacted Paul's campaign office to confirm his participation in its nationally broadcast debate Aug. 5 in Des Moines.

The phone numbers for Iowans for Tax Relief are (toll free) 877-913-3600 and 563-288-3600. The number for the Iowa Christian Alliance is 515-225-1515.

Europeans Not Ready to Cede Freedom

Thought of citizens voting to ratify/reject new EU constitution has plutocrats fretting.

By James P. Tucker Jr.

At a summit in Brussels, the Bilderberg group's efforts to ram through the European Union's constitution ran into a huge problem. Citizens of European states are demanding the right to vote on membership.

Following bilderberg dictates in Istanbul, Turkey, German Chancellor Angela Merket called for all member states to ratify the new draft of the EU constitution without submitting it to their voters for approval. When the original constitutional draft was submitted to voters in France and the Netherlands, it was rejected. Other countries ratified through their parliaments without a vote. All EU nations mst approve for the constitution to take effect.

Europeans are far more informed on these intrigues now, as Bilderberg has been extensively covered in both print and broadcast media in recent years. The Financial Times, a Bilderberg controlled newspaper, reported in sorrow June 18 that an overwhelming majority of Europeans want to vote on whether their nation should surrender more sovereignty to the EU. Some 75% of Spaniards, 71% Germans, 69% of Britons, 68% of Italians and 64% of French people say. In a new poll, that the public should vote on ratification.

Valery Giscard d'Estaing, longtime bilderberg luminary and former French president who led the drafting of the original constitution, described the efforts at deception in a surprising burst of candor in the newspaper Le Monde: The public is being led "to adopt, without knowing it, the proposals that we dare not present to them directly."

He was referring to the fact that, while the new draft avoids the word "constitution" in favor of "treaty" and drops references to such symbols as the EU flag and anthem, the same sovereignty-surrendering elements remain. Calling it a "treaty" makes it no less an effective constitution.

All the super-state elements remain: a full time EU president instead of rotating the role every six months, a foreign minister who will represent the EU and other imperial trappings.

"It is an exercise in deceit," said Nigel Farrage, leader of the British Independenc Party.

Texas Governor Is Globalists' Guy

The Internet is abuzz with reports that Texas Gov. Rick Perry to The Dallas Morning News of his attendance at the recent Bilderberg meeting in Istanbul, Turkey. According to one report, Perry's attendance at the annual gathering of the world's global elites was due largely to his involvement "in selling out Texas to foreign corporations and truly international interests."

Rep. Ron Paul (R-Tex.) Was quoted as saying this about Perry: It is "a sign that he is part of the international conspiracy."

Perry has supported the Trans-Texas Corridor (TTC) in opposition to those who would like to kill the free-trade-inspired scheme. In addition, Perry has been fighting a state measure that calls for a two-year moratorium on the TTC to study what effects the NAFTA superhighway linking Mexico, the United States and Canada would have on the state.

Another report noted that Perry has been the point man in the largest energy buyout in the history of Texas, namely the $45 billion buyout of Texas's electric company. TxU, led by Kohberg, Kravis Roberts & Co. And involving Goldman Sachs and Credit Suisse First Boston, all top global finance firms that dominate the ranks of the Bilderberg group.

Perry may have violated the Logan Act, which prevents elected officials from lobbying and meeting with foreign powers in secret. The act states: "Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carrieson any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof,in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.

Author Says Big Foundations Carry Out Bilderberg Agenda

By James P. Tucker Jr.

Huge, tax-exempt foundations are involved with bilderberg and help carry out its globalist agenda, according to the author of a new book, Foundation of Betrayal: How the Liberal Super-Rich Undermine America.

Many of these foundations have executives who are Bilderberg members with a "one world agenda" and "no respect for the Constitution of national sovereignty," Author Phil Kent told American Free Press in an interview from Atlanta.

Kent pointed out that the Ford Foundation, Rockefeller Brothers Fund, and Carnegie are always represented at Bilderberg. Billionaire George Soros, a long-time Bilderberg luminary, uses his Open Society Institute to, among other things, bankroll the "pro-illegal alien" National Immigration Forum, Kent said.

Major foundations such as Ford and Carnegie constitute a "virtual invisible government," Kent said. "They are consultants to the changing of America. The last serious effort at congressional oversight of these so-called charitable groups was in the 1950s. They have been increasingly running amok ever since."

Huge foundations pay their chief officers immense salaries. They not only add to the taxpayers' burden by paying no taxes, they actually extract money from the taxpayers. The Bill and Milinda Gates Foundation is the world's largest, with assets in the billions. Recently, it gave $3.8 million to Families U.S.A., a left-wing advocacy group, to extract billions of dollars from the U.S. government to advance the cause of "global health." This was done in spite of the fact that millions of Americans currently have neither health care nor access to affordable medicine.

For two years, Kent has been researching IRS and other sources to document the agenda supported by fat cat foundations. Among his findings:

RADICAL LEFT CAUSES

The environmental movement, which was embraced by Bilderberg years ago because of the potential for immense profits, has received big buck from the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, the John D. And Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the Nathan Cummings Foundation, the Scherman Foundation and the Turner Foundation, Ted Turner has given billions to the United Nations and publicly called for the UN to become a world government.

Soros's Open Society funds the radical-left National Organization for Women and the ACLU in its attempts to expel god from public schools and local governments. Soros also supports groups demanding world government.

The ford Foundation was the "prime underwriter" of a September 2001 UN World Conference Against Racism, held in South Africa. The conference denounced the United states because of the death penalty, among other charges, and called for "international solutions to problems of individual nations, rejecting national sovereignty. They seem unable to understand that states impose death sentences that are sustained by the U.S. Constitution and Supreme court (not the "World Court").

The original Henry Ford, who introduced assembly-line mass production that made automobiles affordable to America's middle class, was a great patriot who opposed U.S. intervention in the European war that became World War I. But the trustees of the foundation he created to promote American ideals has betrayed his legacy and become a major force pushing globl government. The Ford Foundation was founded on Jan. 15, 1936, by Edsel Ford and two Ford Motor Company executives in order "to receive and administer funds for scientific, educational and charitable purposes, all for the public welfare." Thirty years ago, Henry Ford II resigned his position on the foundation that bears the family name and the family has had nothing to do with it since.

There are conservative foundations, Kent said, but their assets and donations are a fraction of the left-wing foundations. Beyond concern over the anti-American agenda of the left-wing foundations, Kent said billions of dollars "that could be going for the betterment of America's health and education systems" are being wasted by these tax-exempt groups.

"This concern should cut across all partisan and ideological lines," Kent said

Quest for Global Domination At Heart of America's Problems

By Willis A. Carto

This newspaper has always urged that the leaders of our country scrupulously avoid all interference into the affairs of other countries and to employ their efforts exclusively to the welfare and advancement of the citizens of this republic.

George Washington* was not the only Founding Father to ure this wise policy. It was faithfully followed until the American battleship Maine mysteriously exploded in Havana Harbor.

"Remember the "Maine" instantly became the journalistic cacophony of the Hearst papers and the rest of the yellow press of the day, and it was the pretext for the wanton aggression called the Spanish American War, which brought us the Pandora's box of the Philippine Islands, the first imperialist booty in our history.

This abandonment of our traditional nationalism opened the floodgates to our present ills. It was followed by American intervention into two European wars, neither of which brought us anything but death, debt, the dismal marcotic of perpetual war, alien Zionist control of our politics and fatal involvement in other problems.

It has now ggone so far downhill that the present administration sees it as only right and proper that America should cominate the entire globe, a certain recipe for our own destruction.

And so here we are, with a dimwitted president who considers himself and his chief adviser, the corrupt Cheney, able to solve the probles of foreigners even as they have shown themselves totally unable to deal with the problems of this suffering nation.

But thisis only the beginning of the bush disaster. He has made himself and the United States a laughing-stock around the world. Wheres America used to be the bright star of hope for humanity, today we are held in contempt if not pity as the prestige of our country plummets with the value of the dollar.

Thankfully, Bush's ineptness and the corruption of his administration are apparent to every American except that speicies of republican stalwart who would support Beelzebub himself if he were a party member. Thus, his approval rating hovers in the 20% range, which lowers his authority to that of a lame duck.

The bottom line is this and nothing else. Anysystem that places a criminally incompetent moron such as George W. Bush and his cronies and advisors into the Oval Office is clearly suicidal. What the Bush gang recommends as "democracy". Is in reality a system for insiders, foreign interests and big money to perpetuate and institutionalize political fraud and crime.

And unless this country finds the leadership and the will to eviscerate the whole rotten system and substitute honest politics, its days are numbered.

Ron Paul's Appeal Breaks Down Party Lines

By Mark Anderson

Presidential candidate Ron Paul, the Texas constitutionalist-Republican who often has led the GOP pack in unscientific post-debate online surveysk, believes success in New Hampshire could set the stage for a big upset in the Republican primaries. And there's good reason to believe that New Hampshire, whose state motto "Live Free or Die or Die" comports with Dr. Paul's philosophy, will treat him well at the polls.

Paul's press secretary, Jesse Benton, told AFP June 19 that more than a few democrats have indicated to him that they like Paul's opposition to the Iraq military occupation and his philosophy of ending the U.S. government's 50-plus years of undeclared interventionist war throughout the world. This tendency for Democrats - some of whom are disappointed with their current crop of candidates - to cross over and support Paul is especially significant in New Hampshire, which has an open primary format. This means that pro-Paul democrats can vote in the state's Jan. 22, 2008 , Republican primary. New Hampshire's primary election, the nation's first, carries a lot of weight.

"New Hampshire really has been bellwether state for a long time," Benton told AFP "People there take politics seriously. It's kind of a leveling effect. You don't have to have $50 million in the bank. People are interested in your message."

The main reason Paul rates so highly on online "live" Internet surveys is because those surveys typically involve people intensely interested in politics who get online after the debates and respond to questions such as "Who Stood out From the Pack?" in formal polls, where pollsters contact registered voters, the situation is far different, as Benton explained.

For one thing, they call landline phone numbers and tend to get older voters. And at this point in time, only 25% of voting-age Americans are focused on the presidential election, So those candidates with simple name recognition tend to get higher percentages in the polls.

Under the heading, "Polls With Respect to Ron Paul May BeInaccurate," USAelectionpolls.com, a site wher neurtal mathematics gurus scrutinize polling and how it affects candidates, states: "Ron Paul supporters are younger than the average voter. Many of them have either been so disillusioned with the candidates that they have never voted before or were too young to vote before. Therefore these potential voters would never be polled."

Experts Predict Money Crisis

A Little-Known ‘Derivatives Debt Crisis' Poses Threat to Entire Financial World

By Christopher Ruddy

Could the U.S. housing recession and recent events in the stock market be early warnings of something even worse to come?

Until recently, the U.S. and global economies had been roaring. In the last two years, the Dow went up by a huge 30%, and many commodities are up by 20% to 50%. Also growth in several Asian countries—notably India and China—has been simply amazing, up by 9% to 12% a year. And until recently, real estate was also booming in many parts of this world, including the United States, Europe and Asia.

This broad-based global boom would be great news for everyone if it was the result of natural and sustainable market forces, such as a growth in savings and increasing economic innovation.

But is the mother of all financial disasters on the horizon?

Unfortunately, there is evidence that this global boom is anything but natural and sustainable, but is really the artificial result of a global liquidity bubble — a bubble that could now be on the verge of bursting.

In this global bubble, literally hundreds of trillions of dollars in leveraged debt are at risk. It's no secret that in today's society, everyone from the family next door, to major corporations, to the U.S. government is deeply in debt. But while some debt statistics are widely reported, such as our $8 trillion national debt, other debt figures are never mentioned.

There has much discussion of Uncle Sam's enormous, unfunded liabilities—including mandatory Social Security and Medicare payments, government and military pensions, interest on the national debt and other hidden-but-very-real government debt.

Altogether this debt totals an incredible $60 trillion to $65 trillion—or about $500,000 for every U.S. family. It's doubtful these obligations will ever be paid and even the attempt to do so could plunge our economy into hyperinflation.

That's scary enough and raises lots of reason for concern, as more Baby Boomers retire and this debt comes due. However, the above unfunded mandates are dwarfed by little - understood but truly colossal derivatives debt which now totals over $345 trillion—about nine times the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the entire world.

COMBINED DEBT

Derivatives are debt based on other debt. For example, banks commonly package groups of home mortgages together and sell this combined debt as Residential Mortgage Backed Securities (RMBS). Banks in Japan and China are major purchasers. Unfortunately, each time debt is repackaged and resold, it grows, in some cases exponentially creating an enormous, global pyramid of debt thousands of times greater than the value of the underlying assets.

Now the $345 trillion question is, "What happens if the underlying assets upon which all of this pyramiding debt is based decline in value?" Moreover, "who gets stuck holding the worthless hot potato of uncollectible debt?"

That's not a trivial or unimportant question. If the assets that all of this debt are based upon ever fall, the entire global derivative debt pyramid would begin to collapse, potentially taking much of the world's financial system along with it.

If you've never heard of derivatives before, join the crowd. Less than one person in 100 has ever heard of them, and even fewer understand them. But what you don't know could destroy your finances, and what's particularly worrisome is that the derivatives debt pyramid may have already begun to collapse.

Ron Paul Surges Forward

By Mark Anderson

Despite GOP attempts to marginalize him, message still resonates with the people.

Being shunned by organizers of a June 30 Iowa Republican forum did not alter the course or sap the ambition of Rep. Ron Paul (R-Tex.) whose run for the presidency gained steam at a Kansas City rally and an Arizona speech, and proceeded to an afternoon rally in Des Moines, Iowa. In Iowa, Paul underscored the point that he will not be discouraged in his revolutionary campaign to talk constitutionally in an age of betrayal.

In Des Moines, Paul boldly held his rally on the same day even inside the same hall of the same building - as the forum featuring the other official Republican candidates that was sponsored by the Iowa Christian Alliance and Iowans for Tax Relief (ITR), the groups that excluded Paul from their forum.

"We'll be literally the next door over in that hall," Paul's press secretary, Jesse Benton, told AFP as the June 30 event neared. "We're feeding everyone hot dogs and hamburgers. This is not a protest against those two groups. It's about Ron sharing his message of freedom and liberty with the citizens of Iowa. We set it up so they walk out of the other event and walk right into our, have a hamburger and listen to Ron.

As AFP reported on the July 2 edition, staffers in Paul's Virginia campaign office at first thought this matter was must an oversight, only to learn June 19 from ITR executive vice president Edward Failor Jr. that Paul was not going to be invited to the debate. There's strong speculation that Failor's affiliation with the McCain campaign, where he had served asa senior advisor to McCain's exploratory committee in early 2007,had something to do with excluding Paul.

But Benton believes it's more a matter of Failor not being as anti-tax as is assumed. Even though Failor is a prominent National Taxpayers Union (NTU) member, he worked with New York Gov. George Pataki's political action committee when Pataki considered a White House run, and is helping McCain. Pataki and McCain, said Benton, waffle on tax issues. So Failor may not be a true taxpayer advocate and would oppose Paul, who proposes abolishing the IRS.

"In excluding Ron, there's a troubling pattern from this guy," Benton said.

AFP placed a call to ITR headquarters June 26 that was not returned before AFP went to press. Several calls were made to the Iowa Christian Alliance, but there was no answer there either, and no way to leave a message.

Failor also supported Bush, who has taxed and spent the nation into bankruptcy with the Iraq war, with the massive Medicare prescription drug plan, with the No Child Left Behind Act that put the federal government even deeper into education, and with other boondoggles.

According to a McCain campaign press release: "During the 2004 presidential election, Failor served as the executive director of the Iowa Victory campaign. Under his leadership, President bush was the first Republican nominee to carry the Hawkeye State in 20 years."

Despite this, Paul addressed more than 700 people in downtown Kansas City, Mo., at the historic Uptown Theater, State Rep. Jim Guest - a leader and organizer of state legislators across the nation who oppose the federal Real ID Act and efforts to create a nation ID system - greeted Paul, who's also a stanch Real ID Act opponent.

Guest, who was at a luncheon with Paul after Paul and some other GOP candidates attended a Right to Life convention, told AFP that at this early stage, there is some support for Paul among state legislators, though some Republicans support Fred Thompson, the senator and actor who has battled serious health problems andseems like a tentative candidate.

In Phoenix, Arix., on June 16, Paul spoke to the 14th annual convention of the arizona Republican Assembly (ARA).

According to Paul's campaign office: "Dr. Paul addressed a sold-out crowd of ARA members and guests delivering his signature message that harks back to the fundamental principles America was founded upon: limited constitutional government, personal responsibility, low taxes, free markets, non-intervention and sound monetary policies. Dr. Paul's speech was heartily received."

Notably, Paul is being accompanied by two New York Times photographers, who are working on a Times Sunday Magazine piece.

Getting a Good Man in the White House

Editorial

Like an earthquake under the sea, a lot of debris and strange life forms have been bought to the surface by Rep. Ron Paul's announced candidacy for the white House. On of these strange political life forms is a character named Ed Failor, the grand panjandrum of an equally strange outfit calling itself Iowans for tax Relief. And as long as we are dwelling on unique specimens, we must also cite Steve Scheffler, Failor's confederate in political crime.

Both of these characters were cited on page 6 of the July 2 edition of American Free Press as trying to sabotage the candidacy of Rep. Ron Paul for president by excluding him from their presidential candidates forum, June 30.

Since then, Failor and Scheffler have received numerous telephone calls from outraged Paul supporters trying to get to the bottom of the anti-Paul campaign. And a campaign it definitely is.

The real issue here is Paul's consistent opposition to foreign aid, the military-industrial-banking complex and perpetual war, the very essence of the joint bi-partisan program of party bosses in both major parties.

By his votes in Congress, as well as by his written and spoken words in both the House of Representatives and his weekly column in this newspaper as well as many others, Paul has made this position clear.

And by so doing, he has grievously offended the big bucks backers of both parties -the internationalists, arms manufacturers, bankers and their camp followers of loose morals whose profitable livelihood is made from skimming the broth off the billions of tax or debt-dollars politicians offer up to anyone who will join their panhandle parade.

Thus we have the likes of Failor and Scheffler, who have been carefully programmed to say or do anything their puppet-masters desire and to ignore the voters and taxpayers.

More basically yet, this illustrates why Americans may see political dregs, such as New Gingrich or Rudy Giuliani, cop the republican nomination rather than a principled man like Ron Paul. And the irony is that the major support of both of these fakers comes from something called the Christian Coalition, an assemblage of alleged Christians who profess loyalty to a foreign nation called Israel, rather than the U.S.

But should we sit back and meekly accept this blatant attempt to subvert our republic? Of course not.

Get extra copies of AFP Issue #27 to hand out (see page 16). Call local media outlets and tell them you want to hear more about Ron Paul on their programs. Go to Rep. Ron Paul's website (www.ronpaul.org) and print out his materials to disseminate. Do what ever you can. Use your influence to influence other. This battle isn't over yet. American citizens deserve a good man like Ron Paul in the White House. And, by God, this republic needs someone with real solutions to the ral problems this nation is facing, to another vapid pawn of the plutocrats to drag us down the garden path of globalization and perpetual war.

Spotlight On Congress

Under Patriot Pressure, Senate Kills Amnesty

On June 28, the Senate, under heavy pressure from grassroots Americans, appeared to have delivered the coup de grace to the illegal aliens amnesty legislation after a coalition of unlikely supporters failed to secure a key procedural vote that would have blocked debate on the measure. As a result, political analysts predicted the bill was dead - at least until after the next election in 2008. This is good news considering all of the amendments that had been attached to it.

Slipped unnoticed into the thick Senate bill was an old amendment that would allow illegal aliens to receive instate college tuition rates unavailable to legal citizens from other states. This is a significant reduction in tuition costs and amounts to a fat cash rewoard for entering this country illegally.

These provisions, buried deep in the amnesty bill, are part of the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act. It should be called the "nightmare act." It was added to this year's bill by sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.) and his little plymetes. It repeals a 1996 federal law that prohibits any state from offering in-state tuition rates to illegal aliens unless the same is offered to all citizens in the nation.

On its own, the DREAM Act never could pass - even in the current Senate. Every opinion poll on the subject has shown more than 70% opposition to granting in-state tuition benefits to illegal aliens. The DREAM Act languished in committee for five years until the chance to sneak it into the larger amnesty bill emerged.

Eith ever-new pockets of evil being exposed in an already-bad amnesty bill, some advocates began discussing significant concessions. One contemplated concession would eliminate the straight-line to citizenship by illegal aliens and require them to return home before applying for citizenship. Whether this concession would put the illegals in back of the line - behind those waiting to enter legally - is still being discussed. But tis concession, if approved, would be a big setback for amnesty advocates.

Spotlight On Congress

Groundswell of Amnesty Antipathy Sways Congress

Amnesty advocates in Congress are displaying shrill nervousness as public outrage strengthens the position of those who support ending the invasion by illegal aliens before considering related issues.

President Bush was reduced to asking immigrants - legal and illegal - to speak up for his amnesty proposal. Legal immigrants have expressed strong opposition to amnesty, as reported in the July 2 edition of AFP.

"There's a lot of emotion on this issue and it makes sense to have people from around the country come and sit down with members of congress to talk rationally about the issue," Bush told the Hispanic Prayer Breakfast in Washington.

Sen. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) responded June 21 by telling his colleagues he was wrong to vote for immigration amnesty in 1986 and promised to sin no more. "I was fooled once, and history has taught me a valuable lesson," Grassley said in a letter to Senate colleagues. Grassley said he is fulfilling a "duty to warn you of the mistakes" of passing yet another bill that would allow illegal aliens to become citizens - this time for 14 million to 20 million illegal aliens, compared to 3 million in 1986.

Illegal advocation amnesty and their mouthpieces in congress natter about their "contribution" to the workforce. They fail to mention that 14.3% work in manufacturing according to the Census Bureau. Yet, manufacturing has lost more than 2 million jobs since 2000 with more jobs going south every month. Their "contribution" is to take the remaining jobs away from americans because illegal aliens work for slave wages. Big business, and its Republican backers, want nothing more than to create a slave labor class in the United States. That's why they advocate so-called "immigration reform" offering amnesty. But it's worse than that.

EXPANSION OF WELFARE STATE

The Senate amnesty bill "would be the largest expansion of the welfare state in 35 years, "in the words of Robert Rector of the Heritage Foundation. His research shows "the U.S. has imported poverty through immigration policies that permitted and encouraged the entry and residence of millions of low-skill immigrants." the annual cost to taxpayers is $89 billion, and this will increase sharply if more illegal aliens become eligible for aid under amnesty, he said.

The House, which rejected a Senate-passed amnesty bill a year ago, is holding firm. "What we want to do is stop the senate amnesty bill in its tracks right now," said Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.), ranking minority member of the Homeland Security Committee. Amnesty foes would rather stick with present immigration laws than pass "comprehensive" legislation, he said.

King and fellow republicans - including LaMar Smith of Texas, the ranking member of the Judiciary Committee - introduced a bill enhancing border security and a resolution calling on bush to enforce a dozen laws already on the books.

Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) Said he would fight any attempt to send a bill to an eventual House-Senate conference, which is the usual way of settling differences and send a bill to an eventual House-Senate conference, which is the usual way of settling differences and sending a bill back to both chambers for final votes.

"Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.) has sold us another bill of goods, and I don't trust him to make even more changes to it behind closed doors in a conference with the House," DeMint said.

New Gun-Grab Scheme Exposed

Gun Banners Try New Tactic on Dealers; BATF Aims to Bankrupt Honest Sellers

By Mark Anderson

A tyrannical trend has rocked the world of Second Amendment supporters. The oldest still-operating gun store in Idaho, Red's Trading Post in Twin Falls, is being targeted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), a relic from the days of Prohibition that is setting its sights on law-abiding firearms sellers, nitpicking over clerical errors to wage a war of attrition.

More troubling still is the fact that this appears to be part of an organized campaign to force gun dealers out of business across the country.

On March 5, 2007, Red's license to acquire firearms was to be revoked. However, for the time being, in accordance with a federal judge's injunction in favor of Red's, the store can continue selling firearms as it has done for the last 71 years. Red's first opened its doors in 1936, under the management of a great grandfather of Ryan Horsley, a current owner.

U.S. attorneys currently are asking U.S. District Judge Edward Lodge to terminate his May 2 injunction that allowed Red's to continue full operations.

"We've spent $70,000 on legal fees so far . . . and there's still no court date," Horsley told American Free Press on July 11. He believes the ATF and U.S attorneys want to avoid setting a court date since the feds might lose the case and receive unwanted publicity.

Their tactic appears to be: Find clerical glitches, if any, make court filings and exhaust Red's finances.

"They're trying to win by attrition," said Horsley, adding that every legal rebuttal to the citations from each ATF visit costs the store $5,000 to $6,000.

In granting the injunction, Lodge noted: "The ATF speaks of violations found during the inspections of 2000 and 2005, but fails to reveal that additional investigations in 2001 and 2007 revealed no violations or problems."

He also acknowledged Red's statement that ATF is exaggerating Red 's conduct by "double counting" certain violations. The judge also looked at the balance of the ATF's hardship compared to Red's hardship and found that the relative hardships tip sharply in the store's "favor."

"A 2004 audit by the ATF claims to have uncovered several minor clerical errors. Out of nearly 10,000 firearms transferred between 1996 and 2004, the alleged error rate found was not even a full percentage point. There were no missing firearms, and no willful illegal acts," notes a statement from Red's web site.

"This is not just happening to us though and is becoming a common trend throughout the United States."

DETAILS, DETAILS

Horsley, who said the feds are using a 2005 audit to go after the store, recalled the contradictory and capricious way ATF agents conducted themselves that year.

He explained that he was first told the store's files should be kept "pretty much alphabetically" but in date-of-purchase chronological order within each letter (A, B C, and so on, according to the buyer's last name).

Sometime later, ATF agents looked at the same files and did not cite the store with violations.

But during a third inspection, Horsley related that ATF agents told him, "We're writing you up for not having them in perfect alphabetical order," meaning that the chronology suddenly no longer matters.

According to Horsley, who worked directly with ATF personnel, the supervisors can overrule the inspectors and re-interpret policies in the process—the very policies used to determine what constitutes a violation.

So the law enforcement agency fiddles with the law, in essence rewriting it to suit its needs at a given time, said Horsley.

He added that when the ATF came in during 2005, the store was cited for not having posters and pamphlets that state handguns are dangerous to children and for not making sure gun buyers indicated their county of residence on government forms used for cataloging firearms purchases.

"We had a 99.6% success rate for the 2005 audit," Horsley told AFP. He added that another detail raised by ATF agents was whether a box was checked on the forms indicating the type of gun that was purchased (handgun, long gun, or whatever).

One form did not have the box checked. "They searched through 10,000 forms and found one violation of that," he said. Not having the right literature in the store and the unmarked box on a form prompted agents to designate Red's as "a threat to public safety," hence the continuing legal action against the store. Lodge, however, shot back that the store is not a threat to public safety.

A key thing in the law is the word "willful," said Horsley. The ATF must prove applicable laws were willfully violated as opposed to the few inadvertent oversights and errors that occurred at Red's.

LARGER CAMPAIGN?

Some say the ATF, while it seems to just be nitpicking over T's not crossed and I's not dotted, is actually engaging in a campaign to close gun stores across the country, especially since other approaches, such as cities and other entities suing gun manufacturers and distributors to pin the blame on them when guns are misused, have not worked.

Horsley cited Violence Policy Center (VPC) figures that showed an 80% decline in the number of new federally licensed firearms dealers from 1994-2005. And the ATF's own figures, he said, show that between 2001 and 2006 revocations of federal firearms licenses, or FFLs, shot up to a rate six times above the norm.

A March 2006 VPC press release noted: "The number of gun dealers in America has dropped by 190,726 since 1994 according to a new study released . . . by the VPC.

The study found that the number of Type 1 FFLs plummeted 78% from 245,628 in 1994 to 54,902 in 2005."

The Type 1 FFL is the basic federal license required to sell guns in America.

A competitor in Twin Falls, Blue Lakes Sporting Goods was forced out of business in the same manner; however ATF agent Richard Van Loan never allowed the store to appeal the ATF's decision. It was not until the urging of Sen. Larry Craig (R-Idaho) that Blue Lakes was allowed to have an appeal, but by then they were in the middle of their "going out of business sale," Horsley noted.

Spotlight On Congress

Another Patriot Victory: ‘Fast Track' Finished

Patriots won another huge victory, following the death of amnesty for illegal aliens, when Congress performed a great act by doing absolutely nothing. "Fast track" trade authority expired June 30 because lawmakers did not renew it. Under fast track, the president could negotiate trade deals, which Congress could approve or reject in up-or-down votes but not change.

The result was NAFTA, which sent hundreds of thousands of good-paying manufacturing jobs south where international corporations could exploit cheap labor and not be burdened with such federally imposed economic burdens as pollution controls, bathroom breaks or health care for workers.

The administration brags that NAFTA and other fast-track deals have generated so many jobs in this country that unemployment is less than 5% or zero as counted by economists who consider such a low figure as reflecting people changing jobs. What the administration refuses to recognize is that these new jobs are mainly in the service industry. As AFP has repeatedly reported, many thousands of workers who lost well-paying factory jobs are flipping burgers or working as "greeters" at Wal-Mart at a low wage.

The death of fast track was mourned by the Bilderberg-controlled Wall Street Journal: "Democrats announced that an extension of the trade promotion authority is essentially dead as long as they run Congress.... They lacked the nerve to stand up to the AFL-CIO. The secretive internationalist group known as Bilderberg has long supported NAFTA as a vehicle for turning the Western Hemisphere into the "American Union" similar to the European Union - a significant step toward the ultimate goal of a world government under the UN.

The victory by inaction is less passive than it sounds. Tremendous pressure to extend fast track came from powerful international corporations and organizations. Brigitte Gwyn, the top trade lobbyist for the Business Roundtable, said her association brought in a dozen of its CEO members to pressure lawmakers to renew fast track. The Trade for America Coalition sent letters to all lawmakers urging renewal. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce was also heavily involved. The chamber's Christopher Wenk declined to say how much money was being thrown at Congress but boasted that "we're putting our money were our mouth is."

They all whined about how "difficult" it will be to establish trade deals without fast-track. But trade deals, or any treaty, should be difficult to achieve. Under the Constitution, treaties become the supreme law of the land, and, when in conflict with other legislation, they prevail. The Founders never intended for treaties to be easy, casual deals.

Why Are ‘Stem Cells' a Federal Issue?

The debate in Washington has again turned to federal funding of stem cell research, with President Bush moving to veto legislation passed recently by Congress. Those engaged in this debate tend to split into warring camps claiming exclusive moral authority to decide the issue once and for all.

On one side, those who support the president's veto tend to argue against embryonic stem cell research, pointing to the individual rights of the embryo being discarded for use in research. On the other hand are those who argue the embryo will be discarded anyway, and the research may provide valuable cures for people suffering from terrible illnesses.

In Washington, these two camps generally advocate very different policies. The first group wants a federal ban on all such research, while the latter group expects the research to be federally subsidized. Neither side in this battle seems to consider the morality surrounding the rights of federal taxpayers.

Our founding fathers devised a system of governance that limited federal activity very narrowly. In doing so, they intended to keep issues such as embryonic stem cell research entirely out of Washington's hands. They believed issues such as this should be tackled by free people acting freely in their churches and medical association, and in the marketplace that would determine effective means of research.

When government policies on this issue were to be developed, our founders would have left them primarily to state legislators to decide in accord with community standards.

Their approach was also the only one consistent with a concern for the rights and freedom of all individuals, and for limiting negative impacts upon taxpayers.

When Washington subsidizes something, it does so at the direct expense of the taxpayer. Likewise, when Washington bans something, it generally requires a federal agency and a team of federal agents - often heavily armed federal agents - to enforce the ban. These agencies become the means by which the citizenry is harassed by government intrusions. Yet it is the mere existence of these agencies, and the attendant costs associated with operating them, that leads directly to the abuse of the taxpayers' pocketbooks.

If Congress attempts to override the president's veto, I will support the president. As a physician, I am well aware that certain stem cells have significant medical potential and do not raise the moral dilemmas presented by embryonic stem cell research. My objection is focused on the issue of federal funding. Unfortunately, in the Washington environment of "either subsidize it, or else ban it," it is unlikely there will be much focus given to the issue of federal funding. Instead, virulent changes will fly regarding who is willing to sacrifice the lives and health of others to make a political point.

Only when Washington comes to understand that our founders expressly intended for our federal government to be limited in scope, will policy questions such as this be rightly understood. But that understanding will not come until the people demand their elected officials act in accordance with these principles.

Enforce Genocide Convention

By Willis A. Carto

The Genocide convention is back. Readers who were supporters of Liberty Lobby and its newspaper, The Spotlight, which was destroyed by agents of the federal government because it became too influential, will remember the Genocide convention (GC).

The text of the GC is reprinted below. It was ratified by the Senate on Oct. 19, 1988, and promptly signed by President Ronald Reagan on Nov. 4, 1988.

It is clear that the worst offender against the principles of the Genocide Convention is Israel, which signed onto the treaty on March 9, 1950. In its drive to take over the holy land, Israel has dispossessed at least a million Palestinians whose ancestors have lived in Palestine for more than a thousand years or more. Uncounted thousands of men, women and children have been killed, dispossessed, chased into refugee camps where they have lived for generations and mercilessly been starved and treated like dogs.

Under the terms of the Genocide Convention, Israel is guilty of uncountable crimes as clearly defined in article 2 of the GC. In their aggression, the Israelis have killed anyone who has stood in their way. One example is peace activist Rachel Corrie; an attractive young California blonde who was murdered by an Israeli bulldozer on March 16, 2003. Ironically the Caterpillar bulldozer was a gift from American taxpayers.

Now, a committee has been set up by the distinguished E. Stanley Rittenhouse to see that the United States government lives up to its responsibility to enforce the terms of the GC. It is appropriately called, Committee to Enforce the Genocide Convention.

Rittenhouse plans a publicity campaign to notify every member of the House and senate, the entire media, including newspapers, magazines, radio, television and the Internet, and all Americans of the need to enforce the principles of the GC.

Observance of this legal document would mean a total pullout from the territories occupied by the Israeli army. It would spell the end of political Zionism and likely compensation to its victims.

Rittenhouse brings good credentials to his new job. He served as chief legislative representative for Liberty Lobby from 1971 to 1980. In that job, he testified repeatedly supporting pro-American legislation and opposing legislation hurtful to America before both houses of Congress. Rittenhouse lives in Virginia.

"We intend to bring the facts of Israeli aggression to the attention of enough loyal Americans to make a difference. It is time to take a stand against the illegal aggression of Israel, and I ask that all Americans join me in this aim," he said.

Currently, chairman Rittenhouse can be contacted through AFP. A direct address will soon be procured through which AFP readers may contact the committee directly.

Defining Genocide: A Quick Look at the Actual Treaty

The Genocide Convention was approved and proposed for signature and ratification by the UN General Assembly in December 1948 and entered into force January 1951. The U.S. congress approved the measure in 1998. Today, 41 countries have signed on to the convention, including Israel and Iran.

The Present Convention shall be ratified and the instruments of ratification shall be deposited with the Secretary-General of the United Nations.

After 1 January 1950, the present Convention may be acceded to on behalf of any Member of the United Nations and of any non-member State which has received an invitation as aforesaid. Instruments of accession shall be deposited with the Secretary-General of the United Nations.

Article 12

Any Contracting Party may at any time, by notification addressed to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, extend the application of the present Convention to all or any of the territories for the conduct of whose foreign relations that contracting Party is responsible.

Zionists Targeting Putin's Russia

War to subjugate Islam just phase one of grand Zionist chess match for control of globe.

By Mark Glenn

Given the current situation in the Middle East, with U.S. troops caught in the middle of bloody guerrilla wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the last thing any sane person should consider doing is making an already out-of-control brush fire any bigger. Yet, that is exactly what is taking place with regard to the Bush administration's plans involving Iran, Syria and the rest of the Moslem world. It does not end there - as it is now apparent that the neo-cons driving American foreign policy are hell-bent on picking another fight - and not just with over a billion Muslims worldwide, but with a nuclear-armed Russia that refuses to be a pawn in the Zionist-run New World Order.

The same group of troublemakers, who sent American men and women to fight and die in the Middle East for Israel, are now intent upon using America as their attack dog in fighting Zionism's enemies in Russia as well.

They are popularly referred to as the "neo-conservatives" so as to fool otherwise decent, unsuspecting Americans into supporting their agenda. But the truth is there is nothing conservative about fold such as Douglas Feith, Richard Perle, Elliot Abrams, Paul Wolfowitz and the rest of the gangsters responsible for driving America to war in the Middle East. They were principally disciples of ultra-Marxist Bolshevik revolutionary leader Lev Bronstein who, in an effort to hide his Jewish roots, "Russianized" his name to trotsky.

The power-struggle that occurred - following the death of Lenin - between internationalist oriented Marxists under Trotsky and nationalist under Stalin resulted in Trotsky and many of his followers being forced to flee. Thus Russia, rather than being the capital of international Zionist intrigue as some had hoped, instead become a creature impossible to control. Some of Trotsky's followers remained, but many left Russia, went to Israel and decided that it would be more profitable for the international Zionist agenda to align with western nations such as Great Britain and America.

The Zionists never wrote off Russia completely. Given Zionism's organic anti-Christian, anti-Western character, and the fact that the soviet Union possessed the largest numbers of Marxist-minded Ashkenazi Jews in the world, these glorified street gangsters still had enough in common with each other to continue doing business, despite whatever disagreements existed between them in terms of the "proper" way to implement Marxist principles.

In the early days when the arabs were being driven off their land by the Jews of Europe, it was the Soviet Union, through its satellite nation Czechoslovakia, supplying arms to terrorist organizations such as the Stern gang and the Irgun.

Proof of this strange amity between the Soviet Union and Israel has been shown many times over in other ways as well, no the least of which was Israel's sake of highly classified material to the soviets, acquired through Israeli spy Jonathon Pollard, that resulted in hundreds of American intelligence assets being either arrested, killed or forced to flee.

And while this was taking place, Israel was waiting for the day when Russia would once again fall back within the sphere of Zionist control "like a ripened fruit" as Lenin himself used to say. Zionist planners thought that this day had arrived with the fall of communism and the western-backed coup that brought former Moscow mayor Boris Yeltsin to power.

With the "privatization" of Russia's vast natural resource industries in the 1980s and 1990s, the famed Jewish "oligarches" - many of whom also held Israeli citizenship - entrenched themselves financially and politically in the upper echelons of Russian power, creating monopolies in legal ventures such as banking, media and energy, as well as in extra-legal activities such as drugs, prostitution, child pornography and the sex-slave business.

Everything seemed to be going according to plan until a Russian nationalist named Vladimir Putin succeeded Yeltsin. Although Putin's rise to power was supported by Yeltsin and the Jewish money lords, Putin turned the tables upon them once he was in office. Putin seized these "private" business ventures, nationalized them and began a program of jailing these oligarches who had siphoned off so much of Russia's wealth for themselves. Those not jailed fled to other western nations such as England.

Putin orchestrated the selling off of dollar holdings and converted these holdings to gold and cash. As a result, Russia has some of the highest cash reserves of any nation. He paid of Russia's debt to the IMF and has threatened to tie the Russian ruble to the euro, leading to a further devaluing of the American dollar.

As a result of all this Putin has made many enemies among those powerful Zionists whose motto has always been one of "never forgive, never forget" and who today are actively engaged in using their influence both in the bush white House and elsewhere to bring about a confrontation with a nuclear-armed Russia.

The physical proof of this agenda lies in relatively recent events taking place. Russia is now surrounded in the west by NATO nations. American intelligence agencies and its counterparts in Israel have funded and installed puppet governments such as those in Ukraine in an attempt to weaken the solidarity of Russia's neighborhood. As proxies for these Trotskyite Zionists, the Americans have moved into Afghanistan with an eye to taking the natural resources of the Caspian Sea basin Russia had planned on developing for itself.

Now, as if all these provocations were not enough, the Bush administration has announced its intention to move missiles into the nations bordering Russia as part of a "defense shield" against the "Iranian threat."

While visiting the United states in June, Putin stated in no uncertain terms that Russia knew what kinds of threats were being leveled against it and that the Russians were not going to take these threats lying down. In some of the most explosive comments that have been made since the fall of the Berlin Wall, Putin declared that the American-Zionist, cabal was bent upon world war and that Russia would do what was necessary in seeing its survival was assured, saying Russia has been brought to the "brink of disaster" and promising to take "retaliatory steps."

The one chance that Americans have of averting this future disaster is to wake up and come to grips with the dangers they face as a result of neo-con influence in their government and media and to take these institutions back.

UK Becomes Police State

England perfecting surveillance of its own citizens.

By George Kadar

London- It is difficult to know how the average British citizen thinks and feels about critical issues in England because the voice of the average British citizen is long suppressed. British media outlets and policemen incessantly cite the growing threat of terrorism in all public forums.

England has emerged as the most perfected, technologically advanced police state in the world. Every major city in the country is fully covered with video cameras watching every main road. Even in the smaller cities, a "terrorist" can trigger an impressive display of flashing lights I the intersections by driving over the speed limit. And every British citizen can expect paper tickets with heavy fines to follow in the mail.

Every good citizen has to pay a $300 "TV tax" per year, and the few who do not own a television set at home are under constant mail attacks by the tax collector to explain why they do not pay this tax. The agency is perfecting an electronic device that is able to determine from the street if illegal television watching is taking place inside a home.

The gas and electricity meters in the homes will shut off the service when one runs out of prepaid credit. You then have to run to the nearest store with a small electronic gadget to prepay the gas or electricity so you can finish your shower.

Even the streets of small towns are turned into a jungle of paid parking spaces. The government needs every penny of revenue it can get to fund the installation of more cameras, monitoring devices and to pay for more snooping technology.

Policemen lurk on the streets with computers that recognize cars with unpaid road taxes; the cars are towed and released after heavy fines are paid.

The latest item is the "Dreambox" from Senstar-Stellar "providing information on the status of security devices, threats and suspicious activity."

But the real hot thing comes from Fleet Consult, Ltd. A small electronic gadget is attached to company cars that records every trip that's made. "We now have 100% accurate recording of all our vehicles' business miles. We know now that the information we have to give to Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs is absolutely correct." Not a small achievement if we consider that gasoline sells for around $7 per gallon.

And, unfortunately, the English seem daily ever willing to sacrifice more and more of their privacy in order to make England "safe for democracy."

Ancients Aware of Healing Power of Honey

By Sally Fallon

Honey has been a valued food in many parts of the world, both in primitive societies and sophisticated civilizations. Hunter gatherers are adept at removing honey from bee hives located in hollow tree trunks, using smoke to drive away the bees. In some primitive groups, honey supplies a large portion of calories at certain times of the year. The Aborigines of Australia prized honey and distinguished between two types - light and dark. A neolithic rock painting in Spain shows a man collecting wild honey.

Egyptian writings dating from about 5500 B.C. refer to honey. At that time, Lower Egypt was called Bee Land. Apiculture was well established in the 5th dynasty (about 2500 B.C.) and is shown in several reliefs in the temple of the sun at Abusir. Tablets from the reign of Seti I (1315 to 1292) give a value of an ass or an ox as 110 pots of honey. Thutmoses III is recorded as receiving tributes of honey from Syria in 1450 B.C.

The Indian Laws of Namu, dating from 1000 B.C., called for a tax of one-sixth of the beekeeper's production.

Honey is sugary nectar of flowers gathered by bees. It is carried in "honey sacs" where enzymes begin the process of breaking down the sugars. The bees then deposits her cargo into hexagonal wax cells, to provide nourishment for a young bee. Continued evaporation in the warm atmosphere of the hive gradually transforms the nectar into honey. Bees must travel thousands of miles to produce just one teaspoon of honey.

The saliva of bees breaks down the sucrose in flower nectar into the simple sugars fructose and dextrose. Honey consists of about 35% to 40% fructose and 30% to 35% dextrose along with 17% to 20% water and traces of pollen, wax, acids, proteins, enzymes, vitamins, minerals and pigments. Honey also contains gums, which are complex carbohydrates that contribute to the viscosity of honey - the more gums it contains, the thicker it will be. The flavor, texture and color of honey depend on the types of flowers that provide the original nectar.

Only careful and minimal processing will preserve the many nutritive benefits of honey. Honey should never be heated during extraction or the enzymes will be destroyed; nor should it be filtered. Honey should be thick and opaque. When it comes to honey, see-through is obscene.

Many health claims have been made for honey. Babylonian tables give recipes for "electuaries," medicines based on honey. Pliny the Elder included powdered bees in a cure for dropsy and bladder stones. In Russia, beekeepers are noted for their longevity, and this is said to be due to their custom of eating the "honey from the bottom of the hive," which contains high levels of "impurities" such as pollen, propolis and even bee parts.

Propolis is a resinous substance collected from various plants which the bees mix with wax and use in the construction of their hives. Extravagant health claims have been made for propolis and it has, in fact, been the subject of a number of studies. A 1992 study published in Chemical Biological Interactions found that caffeic acid esters in propolis have strong anticancer characteristics when tested on colon cancer cells.

Health claims are also made for bee pollen, claims which have been validated by at least one study. In 1948, the Journal of the National Cancer Institute reported that bee pollen fed to rats halted the proliferation of cancerous tumors. The best results occurred with only small dosages of pollen. This suggests that bee pollen is very powerful and so potent that even weak or small amounts are vigorous enough to affect the growth of cancerous tumors.

It is the pollen in unfiltered honey that is said to provide relief to allergy sufferers. Small amounts of pollen act as an inoculant against large amounts in the air that trigger reactions like the runny nose and itchy eyes of hay fever.

Unlike other sweeteners, honey is predigested and so is easy to digest. When consumed with carbohydrates, such as oatmeal or toast, the enzymes in honey help with the digestion of carbohydrates.

Since early times, man has made fermented drinks with honey. The most important was mead, an alcoholic beverage, enjoyed by the English and Russians. The word derives from the Sanskrit word for honey, which is madhu. A similar drink called t'ej is popular in Ethiopia.

What is less well known is the fact that honey itself can ferment, if it contains enough residual moisture and is left in a warm place - honey ferments but never spoils. Fermented honey actually expands somewhat, and develops rich flavors. It is an even better aid to digestion than regular honey.

Miracle Weight Loss Drug a Loser?

By Mike Adams

When people ask, "What can I do to lose weight?" what they are really asking is, "What can I do to lose weight that doesn't require exercise or giving up all the junk foods I eat?" when it comes to weight loss, consumers are looking for a magic bullet - a miracle pill that eliminates the responsibility of having to actually make adult decisions about their own health. GlaxoSmithKline has delivered the pot-of-weight-loss-gold at the end of the rainbow in the form of an over-the-counter drug called "Alli."

Alli is bound to be a huge market success. Consumers are rushing to buy the latest fad drug in a desperate attempt to lose weight without having to give up their Krispy Kreme doughnuts or - God forbid - engage in physical exercise that might actually cause them to sweat (there is a great fear of exertion in America today). But while Alli will no doubt be a huge commercial success, it will prove to be an utter weight loss failure. Even in clinical trials, the drug only reduced a few pounds of weight loss per year. You could lose more by walking five minutes a day, or drinking half a can of soda less than what you do now. As a serious weight loss aid, Alli falls short. Very short.

Speaking of shorts, Alli has some very unsavory side effects. The drug can cause explosive diarrhea. This would certainly not be good when commuting, driving or hanging out at the office. The manufacture of alli actually recommends that consumers "carry an extra pair of pants" with them at all times, just in case the side effects kick in. Why not just wear diapers?

This nasty effect isn't the only thing about Alli that makes me wonder what kind of desperate weight loss newbies are going to pop these pills: I'm also concerned about the fact that the drug interferes with the absorption of essential fatty acids. Given that most overweight people are already deficient in DHA and other Omega-e fatty acids and other healthy oils, this Alli drug is likely to put them in an even worse state of deficiency.

The drug works by interfering with the digestion of dietary fats. That may sound great if you're eating a diet of fried foods, hydrogenated oils and processed meat products, but even if you block the absorption of those obesity-promoting fats, you're still left in a state of deficiency concerning the healthy oils like omega-3 fatty acids. And if you eat more flaxseed or take fish or algae oil capsules, guess what? Alli will interfere with those, too, causing you to miss out on at least some of their benefits.

What an incredibly genius idea for a drug. Transform adults into diaper-wearing little children, then leave them in a state of nutritional deficiency. Only a drug company could have thought of this one. And only a desperate, gullible public could actually believe the hype on a drug like this.

Alli is the only weight loss drug I know of that causes you to lose more self respect than body fat. Maybe it should be marketed as a "self image loss" drug instead of a weight loss drug.

WHAT REALLY WORKS?

Now, let's get serious for a moment and talk about legitimate weight loss strategies. First, you've got to control your appetite through a program of nutritional supplementation with super-foods and trace minerals. Your body is hungry because it's malnourished. All the processed food you keep eating is devoid of real nutrition, which explains why you're still hungry even after eating an entire bag of cookies, chips, doughnuts or whatever.

Secondly, you've got to engage in regular exercise. Gee, you've heard that a million times already, right? That's because it's a necessary component of weight loss. Mark my words: There is no way to lose weight without exercise unless you're dying from some disease. Exercise is essential - it boosts muscle mass, increases metabolism and tells your body to shed fat. Sunlight also helps, too. Get more sunlight and your body will drop even more fat.

Finally, you've simply got to stop eating refined sugars, processed carbs and hydrogenated fats. That means no soft drinks, cookies, cake, sweets, white flour, white bread, sugary cereal and other such foods.

Let me be blunt: You can either have your cake and be obese, or you can give up the cake and maintain a healthy weight. You can't have your cake and eat it and expect to be thin, even if you take Alli or some other worthless weight loss drug. Alli does not undo all the fat-inducing foods you've put into your body. You're still going to face the ramifications of everything you swallow, and that means a lifetime of being overweight if you keep eating processed, factory-made foods.

Modern Medicine: It's a Cult, Not a Science

Natural Healer Exposes Lack of Real Science In Mainstream Medicine

By Mike Adams

There's surprisingly little genuine science to be found in the common practice of conventional medicine. Take clinical trials, for example. These are supposed to be the "gold standard" of scientific study, and yet it has been well demonstrated that these studies almost always produce results beneficial to the organization providing the funding. The wishes of the study sponsors, not true scientific methods, determine the study outcomes.

The end result is that today's so-called "scientific medicine" has almost no resemblance to genuine science at all. The word "science" is simply used as a cover for what's really going on behind the scenes - a massive campaign of pro-drug brainwashing and regulatory failures.

Conventional medicine is almost entirely justified by truly bad science. And yet so-called skeptics never seem to question the fraudulent science behind prescription drugs. The mass drugging of children for fictitious diseases, for example, seems to be okay with such skeptics, who are too busy bashing homeopathy to take an honest, critical look at the junk science behind prescription drugs.

While defenders of conventional medicine don't have membership in the club of genuine science, they are card-carrying members of another organization: The Church of Medical Truth, similar to the Ministry of Truth from the book 1984. In this church, the beliefs of members - doctors, FDA bureaucrats, media reporters, etc. - are handed down from the high priests, and those beliefs - that all drugs are good, all vitamins are bad, etc. - are blindly followed by the faithful, who dare not question those beliefs on any genuine scientific basis.

This is how doctors have come to believe the incredible: That food has nothing to do with health, that antioxidants will kill you, that herbs interfere with drugs, and that only drugs can treat or cure disease. It's a cult-like belief system handed down by the high priests of conventional medicine, and if this intricate web of false beliefs was actually subjected to genuine scientific scrutiny it would crumble into a thousand pieces of junk science and propaganda.

Consider these facts about modern medicine:

• There is currently no requirement that surgical procedures be scientifically proven as either safe or effective before being widely performed on the public
• Chemotherapy has been scientifically proven to be worthless at curing cancer, enhancing quality of life or protecting the health of the patient. In fact, chemotherapy kills patients, and even the ones who survive it are left with permanent damage to their brain ("chemo brain"), kidneys, liver and other organs.
• The rapid rise in depression, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and other mental or behavioral" disorders is so large that it can only be explained by either an infectious epidemic or rampant disease mongering. This "disease" is, in fact, pure fiction.
• Nearly all pharmaceuticals receiving FDA approval today have been tested on only a few thousand people for a very short period of time (as little as six weeks in some cases). Yet, from such limited testing, the FDA declares the drugs to be safe for everyone.
• No scientific testing has been done to fully document the toxic effects of combinations of medications. Deadly drug interactions are simply noted after the fact.
• There is only a voluntary requirement that drug side effects noticed by doctors be reported to the FDA.
• The entire paradigm of pharmaceutical medicine makes no sense. Chemicals are used to treat "biomarkers" or measurable biochemical states, yet disease and dysfunction is complex and always involved more than a single measurable number. Cholesterol drugs, for example, may artificially lower cholesterol numbers, but they completely ignore the root cause of elevated cholesterol.
• Most drugs don't work on most people. Claims of benefits are highly exaggerated by reporting their relative percentage rather than absolute percentage of efficacy. For example, if two people out of 100 normally get breast cancer, and a drug causes that number to be reduced to one person out of 100, the drug company will claim a "50% reduction in breast cancer!"

Real Science is about the search for truth and an understanding of the laws of nature, but modern medical science (conventional medicine) is little more than a search for profits at the expense of public health.

Powerful Pomegranate

By Christopher J. Petherick

Strange-looking fruits called pomegranates have been showing up increasingly in grocery stores across the country, but few Americans have had the courage to purchase and eat this odd fruit that is bursting with small, juicy, reddish arils. However, new scientific research published in the April 2007 issue of Harvard Mens Health Watch reveals that pomegranates may benefit men's health in key ways.

Two recent studies show that pomegranates may fight prostate cancer. In one of the studies cited, scientists showed how pomegranate fruit extracts slowed the growth of the cultured prostate cancer cells and actually killed the cancerous cells.

Taking it a step further, researchers then tested pomegranate extract on mice that had been implanted with cancer cells. One group of mice, which eas given pomegranate juice, developed smaller tumors that those that did not receive the treatment.

In a preliminary study of men with prostate cancer, "pomegranate juice lengthened patients; PSA [prostate-specific antigen] doubling time from 15 months before treatment to 54 months on the juice." The longer the doubling time, the slower the tumor is growing.

Preliminary results also suggest that pomegranates may also have positive effects on cardiovascular disease. Studies show that pomegranate juice can protect LDL cholesterol from oxidative damage.

In tests in mice, the juice has also been shown to slow the progression of atherosclerosis. Results from two small clinical studies are even more promising, indicating improvements in blood flow specifically in the carotid artery due to regular intake of pomegranate juice.

People who are currently taking prescription drugs should be aware that pomegranate juice can interact with certain medications, much like grapefruit juice does.

Still, the fact remains that studies show promise when it comes to natural foods, like pomegranates (including pomegranate seed oil), and the beneficial effects thay have for specific ailments such as cancer and heart disease and your overall health.

The Bush-Cheney Oil War

Administration Plans to Steal Iraqi Oil For Mega-Rich Revealed for First Time

By Richard Walker

Iraqi oil workers are waking up to the fact that a proposed hydrocarbon law the Bush administration wants the Iraqi Parliament to pass will effectively place the country's massive oil reserves in the hands of big U.S. and British oil giants for decades.

Many Iraqis are only realizing now what experts have been saying since 2003: that the invasion of Iraq was about oil and Israel, and not about America's security.

The new law would transfer ownership of the majority of Iraq's oil from the Iraqi government and hand it to multinational oil companies linked mostly to the United States, though the British would have a slice of the action.

There would be no benchmarks establishing how much of the profits oil companies would have to share with Iraq.

The law would not pass muster in any other oil producing country in the world, especially one with the huge reserves Iraq has. The measure was drawn up by Bearing Point, a Virginia company that received a $240 million contract within weeks of the Iraq invasion to work with the Iraqi oil ministry.

At that time, Ahmed Chalabi, the darling of the Washington neo-cons was heralding a new Iraq in which an American-led group of oil companies would take over and manage the country's oil reserves.

Chalabi was not alone. In 2004, as L. Paul Bremer was vacating Iraq where he had been virtually its ruler, he passed the baton for economic reconstruction—in particular Iraq's oil future—to a former CIA source, Iyad Allawi and his close associate, Adel Abdul Mahdi. Within months Allawi presented proposals for a new petroleum law to Iraq's Supreme Council, calling for an end to nationalization and the privatization of the oil industry. To close observers it was clear Allawi was the puppet chosen by the United States to do its bidding in the critical area of oil.

Since then the United States has put continuous pressure on the Iraqis to privatize their oil. A draft of the new law was shown to the Bush administration in 2006, but the Iraqi parliament was not allowed to see it until February 2007.

SLICK DICK CHENEY

This is no surprise to those who have closely studied the Bush Administration's bogus case for going to war and more importantly the activities of Vice President Dick Cheney, beginning with his first 10 days in office in January 2001. He was the number two in an administration staffed mostly by former oil company executives who understood the importance of Iraq's oil reserves. None was better informed or better placed to plan to control those reserves than Cheney.

During week two of the Bush presidency, Cheney set up the National Energy Policy Development Group that later became known as the vice president's "Energy Task Force." Cheney has since used executive privilege to hide the activities of that that group and its meetings with heads of the big energy companies in the United States.

But Freedom of Information Act searches have provided reporters with insights into what Cheney was up to prior to and after the Sept. 11 attacks.

The group was busy drawing up lists of companies and countries that were keen to get their hands on Iraq's national resources. The lists were entitled "Foreign Suitors for Iraqi Oil Contracts as of March 5, 2001."

Cheney knew Iraq possessed oil riches. It had enough oil for the United States to break the OPEC stranglehold on world oil prices. Iraq's oil is high grade and easily refined. More importantly Cheney knew it would be cheap to extract it from the ground because most of it is in shallow wells 1,400 to 2,000 feet beneath the desert floor. In total, the reserves were reckoned to be several hundred billion barrels with at least 120 billion barrels already located.

There was enough to put Iraq in the top tier of oil producers for well into the latter half of this century.

A commentary by James A. Paul of the respected Global Policy Forum in December 2002 contained observations that were to prove prescient considering they were written before the Iraq invasion. Paul wrote:

"Oil analysts believe a U.S.-controlled Iraqi government would quickly make deals with the companies for privatized production. Such deals, though possibly agreed in advance of the war, would be justified by the new government on the basis that only the companies would be able to quickly resume post-war production. . . ."

In other words, Paul was saying that after an invasion the US would have enough troops on the ground to ensure that oil production was brought up to speed and that oil facilities were protected.

Paul also foresaw a takeover of Iraq's oil as a prelude to the United States putting pressure on Kuwait, Iran and Saudi Arabia to de-nationalize their oil companies and allow U.S. and UK oil giants a 50-50 split in the production and profits from those countries' oil.

During the planning stages for the attack on Iraq, Cheney focused on Iraq's oil. Evidence of that can be seen in the fact that the State Department was tasked to examine ways to control Iraq's oil post invasion. In the four months leading up to the beginning of the war, the State Department's Oil and Energy Working Group burned its own midnight oil planning for the future of Iraq's energy reserves.

The State Department's planners devised a method of privatization through what they called PSAs, or production sharing agreements. They were, in effect, contracts whereby big oil companies would get the most profitable deals. The Iraqi government would still have ownership but exploration and production would be in the hands of U.S. and British multinationals.

According to oil experts familiar with PSAs they are only used in relation to 10% of world's oil because they are weighted in favor of private companies and not in favor the nations which own the oil.

It only got better for Cheney when a month after the war began, a new Iraqi oil minister was appointed by U.S. Coalition Provisional Authority chief L. Paul Bremer. The minister quickly announced that Iraq would tear up all previous oil contracts agreed to by Saddam, leaving the "suitors"—the Russians, Chinese and French—out in the cold.

Bremer ran Iraq like ancient Rome, hiring and firing at will, while making sure he chose the right Iraqis to handle the oil issue. One of his appointees, Adel Abdul Mahdi, announced at the end of 2004 that a new petroleum law would open up Iraq to foreign oil companies.

Iraqi oil workers and senior members of the Shiite majority are now beginning to realize what has been happening under their noses. The Kurds were the first to spot the subterfuge and have threatened to block the new law, but their efforts may have come too late.

White House pressure on Nouri al-Maliki's government to pass the oil privatization law has been unrelenting. After all, oil was the prize behind the invasion, and there will be no draw down of U.S. troops until Bush and Cheney are sure Iraq's oil production and exploration are in the hands of U.S.-British oil giants.

Richard Walker is the nom de plume of a former mainstream news producer who now writes for AFP so he can expose the kinds of subjects that he was forbidden to cover in the controlled press.

Despite Mainstream Blackout, Rep. Ron Paul Getting Noticed

By Mark Anderson

Republican presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul (Tex.) is conducting a number of rallies for his bid and is picking up steam as he heads for the vitally important Iowa straw poll on Aug. 11 in Ames, which is just north of Des Moines. It was in that town that Paul's June 30 "Life and Liberty Celebration" was a big success, outshining the dull Republican forum from which he was excluded by two organizing groups.

While the forum with the other GOP candidates drew some 720 people, Paul attracted 1,000 people next door in the same convention center. Plenty of Paul supporters with placards paraded past the other forum, making it loud and clear that they are overcoming the decision of lowan's for tax Reform and the Iowa Christian alliance to snub Paul.

As Paul's message of liberty and limited government draws ever more supporters, especially among the younger set who heavily use the Internet and find his message appealing, Paul is generating considerable donations. Press Secretary Jesse Benton told AFP July 11 that Paul now is third among the 10 GOP candidates in terms of campaign cash on hand. Paul has raised some $2.4 million. Only former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney have more cash on hand.

Even the July 11 Washington Times conceded that Paul has out-funded Sen. John McCain of Arizona, who's been another media-anointed "frontrunner."

"Mr. Paul has more campaign cash available than former Republican front-runner Sen. John McCain of Arizona. Federal Election Commission records show, and the antiwar conservative has become an Internet sensation," the Times noted.

The Iowa straw poll is described as a Republican Party fundraiser. Each candidate has a brief opportunity to address the attendees, who then vote in a mock election. This year it will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Hilton Coliseum in Ames.

The straw poll is considered critical for a number of reasons. There's heavy press coverage, so the nation's eyes will be on Iowa for the day.

"This is a tremendous opportunity to display Congressman Paul's strength of support to a national audience," explains a passage from the website www.RonPaul2008.com . "Also, success at the caucus.... It is the next big step on our road to the White House. Candidates who fail to perform adequately at the straw poll often remove themselves from the race shortly after. Because the straw poll requires people to show up and spend their money, it is a truer test of a candidate's actual support than a phone poll, which requires no real effort on behalf of the supporter."

Paul will be in Spartanburg, S.C. on July 21; in his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pa., on Aug. 3; then in San Antonio, Tex. He will then appear at the nationally televised ABC News debate on Aug. 5 in Des Moines. Then, he will head to the Iowa Straw Poll on Aug. 11.

Congress Probes Railroading of Border Agents

California representative say federal prosecution was ‘worst miscarriage of justice.

By Jim Tucker Jr.

Angry lawmakers and experts, during a Senate Judiciary sub-committee hearing on July 17, demonstrated the utter hypocrisy of federal bureaucrats who railroaded two brave Border Patrol agents into long-term prison sentences for lawfully pursuing a fleeing drug dealer who illegally entered this country from Mexico. Responses by government apologists were weak and incoherent.

This "is the worst miscarriage of justice I have witnessed in the 30 years I've been in Washington," said Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.) He cited numerous "lies" by the federal government in the prosecution of agents Ignacio ramos and Jose Compean, who are serving sentences of 11 and 10 years for shooting Osbaldo Aldrete-Davila as he fled back across the Mexican border, abandoning 743 pounds of Marijuana near Fabens, Tex.

Johnny Sutton, the U.S. attorney in San Antonio who prosecuted the case, stood by as Congress was "lied to" and repeatedly referred to the agents as "corrupt" in broadcast interviews, Rohrabacher said. "Congress was lied to with the claim that these two fine Americans of Mexican descent supposedly claimed they wanted to go out and ‘shoot a Mexican' that day. This was later proven to be a bold-faced lie. Who is being prosecuted for lying to Congress? This lie was in print on numerous occasions. Why did Mr. Suttonlet such a vicious lie stand? Why didn't he correct the record?

"Let us not forget the worst lie of all, the one to the jury, when the U.S. attorney's office permitted the prosecutor to describe the drug smuggler as a one-time criminal trying to earn enough money to pay for medicine for his sick mother," Rohrabacher said. "His prosecutors insisted to the judge that the jury not be permitted to hear information about a second narcotics shipment in which the drug smuggler in question was clearly identified."

Sutton's office stonewalled the House investigation "even telling us to get a privacy waiver signed by the drug smuggler before they will release information," Rohrabacher said. "The decision to give immunity to a drug dealer and throw the book at the border patrol agents was prosecutorial travesty. The whole episode stinks to high heaven.

Other legislators assailed the Justice Department, too.

"The U.S. government sadly decided to side with the drug dealer and prosecute agents Compean and Ramos for simply fulfilling their duties as Border Patrolmen," said Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) "The drug smuggler walked away from the incident with only a wound in his rear end, only to attempt another drug run soon after. It troubles me to think that questionable testimony by a drug smuggler, who was granted immunity and free medical care for his cooperation, was put before the two Border Patrol agents who willingly accepted this inherently dangerous responsibility." He called for a presidential pardon.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), who has supported proposed amnesty for illegal aliens, sharply criticized the prosecution of the two agents, saying it has a "chilling effect" on the border Patrol's ability to carry out its duties and undermines morale. "I am extremely concerned about how this case continues to unfold," she said.

T..J. Bonner, president of the National Border Patrol Council, which represents 11,000 front-line agents, destroyed the government's arguments with testimony that, at times, was highly technical - tracing the path of the bullet that struck the fleeing felon showing his boy was twisted in a manner indicating that he was pointing a gun at his pursuer, among other things. There is no credible evidence" that Ovaldo was unarmed, as the government claimed, he said. "It is also important to dispel the ridiculous notion put forth by Sutton that the drug smuggler tried to surrender," he said. "Nothing could be further from the truth."

In an effort to defend himself, Sutton spent much time reciting the events, and, toward the end, noted that "we have chosen not to prosecute this statute in some cases." But it remained unclear why he chose to do so against the agents cited above.

Making a Mockery of U.S.

Globalists responsible for Iraq war, push for alien amnesty.

The recent defeat of the amnesty bill in the Senate came fter outraged Americans made it clear to the political elite that they would not tolerate this legislation, which would further erode our national sovereignty. Similarly, polls increasingly show the unpopularity of the Iraq war, as well as of the Congress that seems incapable of ending it.

Because some people who vocally oppose amnesty are supportive of the war, the ideological connection between support of the war and amnesty is often masked. If there is a single word explaining the reasons why we continue to fight unpopular wars and see legislation like the amnesty bill nearly become law, that word is "globalism."

The international elite, including many in the political and economic leadership of this country, believe our constitutional republic is antiquated and the loyalty Americans have for our form of government is like a superstition, needing to be done away with. When it benefits elites, they pay lip service to the American way, even while undermining it.

We must remain focused on what ideology underlies the approach being taken by those who see themselves as our ruling class, and not get distracted by the passions of the moment or the rhetorical devices used to convince us how their plans will be "good for us." Whether it is managed trade being presented under the rhetoric of "free trade," or the ideas of "regime change" abroad and "making the world safe for democracy" - the underlying principle is globalism.

Although different rhetoric is used in each instance, the basic underlying notion behind replacing regimes abroad and allowing foreign people to come to this country illegally is best understood by comprehending this ideal of the globalist elite. In one of his most lucid moments President Bush spoke of the "soft bigotry of low expectations." Un fortunately, that bigotry is one of the core tenets at the heart of the globalist ideology.

The Basic idea is that foreigners cannot manage their own affairs so we have to do it for them. This may require sending troops to far off lands that do not threaten us, and it may also require "welcoming with open arms" people who come here illegally. All along globalists claim a moral high ground, as if our government is responsible for enduring the general welfare of all people. Yet the consequences are devastating to our own taxpayers, as well as many of those we claim to be helping.

Perhaps the most seriously damaged victim of this approach is our own constitutional republic, because globalism undermines both the republican and democratic traditions of this nation. Not only does it make a mockery of the self-rule upon which our republic is based, it also erodes the very institutions of our republic and replaces them with international institutions that are often incompatible with our way of life.

The defeat of the amnesty bill proves that there is no infallible logic, or predetermined march of history, that forces globalism on us.

The New World Order

The following is an excerpt from a speech Rep. Ron Paul gave on the House floor prior to the Iraq war.

It is a truism that the state grows and freedom is diminished in time of war. Almost perpetual war in the 20th century significantly contributed to steadily undermining our liberties while glorifying the state. In addition to the military wars, liberty has also suffered from the "wars" on poverty, literacy, drugs, homelessness, privacy and many others.

We have, in the last 100 years, gone from the accepted and cherished notion of a sovereign nation to one of a globalist New World Order. Because the United States is by far the strongest military-industrial power, it can dictate terms, protecting what we see as our various interests such as oil. Our commercial interests and foreign policy are no longer separate.

As bad as it is that average Americans are forced to subsidize such a system, we additionally are placed in greater danger because of our arrogant policy of bombing nations that do not submit to our wishes. This generates hatred toward America, and exposes us to a greater threat of terrorism, since this is the only vehicle our victims can use to retaliate.

Freedom of speech is still cherished in America, but the political correctness movement has seriously undermined dissent on our university campuses.

We hear of people losing their jobs because of "socially undesirable" thoughts or for telling off-color jokes. Today sensitivity courses are routinely required in America to mold social thinking for the simplest of infractions. The thought-police are all around us.

Let's hope and pray that our political focus will soon shift toward preserving liberty and individual responsibility and away from authoritarianism.

Spotlight On Congress

President Is Urged to Park Mexican Trucks

More than 100 congressmen are urging President Bush to halt a plan to give Mexican truckers full access to U.S. roads on grounds it would compromise national security and provide a way for foreigners to enter the country illegally. It is also a step toward unifying Mexico, the United States and Canada into a single state because the truckers could cross the nation and enter Canada.

"The U.S. Congress and American people seriously question the ability of Mexican motor carriers and drivers to adhere to our country's strict safety rules, as well as the administration's preparedness and willingness to ensure Mexican truck drivers obey our homeland security and immigration rules," read a letter to Bush signed by 114 House members.

The letter was drafted by Reps. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) and Nancy Boyda (D-Kan.) and signed by 61 Democrats and 51 Republicans. So far, there has been no response from the White House.

"I believe our roads will be less safe with this program, and this isn't theoretical; it's a probability," Mrs. Boyda said. "It does make me furious."

Mexican-registered trucks are allowed to make deliveries and pickups in the United States only within special commercial zones that extend up to 70 miles inside the border. Earlier, Bush announced a Department of Transportation test program that would permit 100 Mexican-based trucking companies to travel anywhere in the United States. An equal number of U.S. trucking companies would be allowed to make deliveries and pickups in Mexico.

Participating Mexican companies must be insured with a U.S.-licensed firm and meet all U.S. safety standards. This is an improvement over an earlier plan to simply let Mexican truckers roam U.S. highways with no safety requirements. But it fails to fix the problem. Mexican trucks are notorious for being in poor repair and for drivers who work dangerously long hours. Will U.S. officials check all trucks entering from Mexico to make sure the brakes function? Of course not. How do we know that the driver had the required amount of rest? Ask him?

Will all Mexican trucks be checked to assure that the "cargo" does not consist of illegal aliens? Some are alreasy trucked into this country under unenforced current laws. It is unclear which law-enforcement agencies would have the authority and responsibility to chick a Mexican driver's status and enforce compliance with federal laws. But even if this confusion is resolved, it is logistically impossible to check a significant number.

"I am disappointed that DOT is moving forward with the implementation of its cross-border trucking program," said Hunter, a presidential candidate. "There is a bipartisan consensus amongst Congress that Mexican truckers should not be provided immediate and unrestricted access into the United States. It appears DOT is choosing to ignore our concerns and subsequent legislative mandate."

DOT said it will not proceed with the program until its inspector general completes an audit.

‘Mite' Makes Right

Zionist evangelist says God wants U.S. to attack Iran...and suckers to give generously to his pro-Israel church.

By James P. Tucker Jr.

Thousands of fundamentalist Christians joined atheist Jews in another "solidarity" event that filled the pockets of Israeli flak John Hagee with gold while filling the minds of innocents with the notion that a merciful God endorses agressive war and mass torture and slaughter of Palestinian men, women and children.

The gruesome message was sent to Congress and the world when Christians United for Israel (CUFI), founded by high-income television evangelist John Hagee, met in Washington July 16-19. CUFI organizers announced that God wants the United States to launch a holy war against Iran to protect Israel and allow further expansion of its borders. No Israeli blood is to spill, only that of Americans.

Hagee works hard to keep his finances under cover but it involves big bucks. In 2003, The San Antonio Express News investigated Hagee's filings with the IRS. The newspaper reported that Hagee received millions of dollars in compensation and benefits in 2001 for his church and TV work and had a trust that includes a nearly 8,000-acre, $2.1 million Texas ranch with a mansion and three barns for his horses, cows, servants and limousines.

Embarrassed, Hagee reorganized his holdings in a manner that allowed him to avoid making public filings. In September 2004 he had his Global Evangelism Television re-registered as a church under the name Grace Church of San Antonio. Churches, unlike religious TV companies and other non profit groups, are exempt from filing detailed returns with the IRS. A further reorganization moved all assets into Cornerstone Church. None of the church's financial records are publicly available, yet Hagee said the change was for "greater clarity."

The vast majority of evangelical ministers are good, sincere people working to save souls, feed the hungry and clothe the naked. But Hagee is among a few well-known exceptions. Evangelist Jimmy Bakker preached honesty and chastity, but had sexual relations with a young girl on his staff and ent to jail for tax evasion, where he shared a cell with Lyndon LsRouche.

Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart exploited Bakker's downfall in an effort to claim his empire. But Swaggart's own empire went belly up when it was learned that he patronized prostitutes. In the 1850s, evangelist Oral Roberts exhorted the "widow to give her mite." Poor, frail old ladies would trot down his sawdust trail and put coins in his cup. Roberts, according to Time, wore $60 Shirts expensive 50 years ago.

But thousands of well-dressed evangelicals gave their "mite" to Hagee as a price for favor with God. "When you give, it qualifies you to receive God's abundance," Hagee tells his flock. "If you're not prospering, it's because you're not giving.

While Hagee's flock was inside the Washington Convention Center calling for an American invasion of Iran, a diverse group - men, women, old and young - were outside educating those who entered. Among them were Willis Carto, Founder of Liberty Lobby in 1955, and Washington-area radio evangelist dale Crowley Jr.

Roth presented copies of Crowley's special report titled "Open Letter to Jerry Falwell," which documents Isrel's brutal occuption of Palestinian lands and unquestioning blank-check support by the United States. "Open Letter to Jerry Falwell" was published by American Free Press. Order it by calling AFP at 1-888-699-NEWS.

Author-philanthropist E. Stanley Rittenhouse passed out literature challenging Biblical interpretations of Christian Zionists." Representatives of Pharisee Watch! Also challenged claims of Biblical blessings for demanding aggressive war against Iran on behalf of Israel.

Catholic Priest Battling the ‘Beast'

By Mark Glenn

At a time when Christianity's most powerful leaders shamelessly appease the Zionist agenda, true Christians who hunger and thirst for righteousness will find comfort in the actions of one leader who is standing up against the beast even at the risk of losing his life. With a strong Spanish accent and passion in his voice that would make John the Baptist envious, fr. John Marinez of Oklahoma is out there like a voice crying in the wilderness, trying to warn Americans that they are being deceived concerning the state of Israel, which he views as the embodiment of anti-Christianity. More than this though is Martinez's warning that Christians will have to answer to God one day for enlisting them selves in the service of evil by supporting the Zionist agenda and its wars in the Middle East.

"As Christians, we do not have the option of remaining silent on this matter," Martinez told AFP. "Our Lord Jesus was bery clear on this - ‘Those who deny Me before men, I will deny before my Father.' We can neither participate in this, nor sit by silently, as something completely contradictory to what Our Lord demands is taking place... This is mass murder and as much opposed to traditional Christian teaching as is the murder of the unborn."
